Alan Lovell

Alan Lovell is a Sydney-based actor with credits across film, television, and theatre. His feature film appearances include Russian Doll, Siam Sunset, Mission: Impossible, and Separation City, where he played Joel Edgerton’s boss. He later appeared as Edgerton’s father in Wish You Were Here (Blue Tongue Films). Alan’s television work includes Stingers, Water Rats, All Saints, The Comedy Company, a four-month role on Home and Away as Colleen’s love interest and The Last Anniversary and Strife.

Alan has performed in numerous stage productions, including works at the National Institute of Dramatic Art, and is also an accomplished stand-up comedian. He has written, directed, and performed three solo stage shows: Al of Africa, based on his time filming Gorillas in the Mist;Tales of a Transient Alien, based on his deportation from the U.S.; and Six Months to Live, which chronicled his cancer diagnosis and was later commissioned by the ABC.

As a filmmaker, Alan wrote and directed The Kiss, which won Best Comedy at Tropfest and the Melbourne Comedy Short Film Festival. He also produced the acclaimed short Gifted, wrote for The Good Weekend, and has directed various school productions.
