David Hooley

David Hooley is a Hong Kong–Chinese actor and voice artist with a career spanning over 25 years across Australia, the UK, and Hong Kong. After immigrating to Australia at 19, he trained at NIDA, WAAPA, and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. His theatre work includes Spamalot (Her Majesty’s Theatre Melbourne), Richard III (Sheriffs Court Glasgow), Fiddler on the Roof (Australian Tour), The Bends (Traverse Theatre Edinburgh), King Of The Air (City Recital Hall), As You Like It (Shakespeare’s Globe Australia), and productions at Hayes Theatre such as The View Upstairs, Aspects of Love, and The Hello Girls.

​David recently starred in the romantic film series A Royal In Paradise, with the sequel A Royal Proposal released in early 2025. He has been involved in the development of new works including Dot and the Kangaroo, Between Worlds, Noli Me Tangare, In A Little Room, and Crikey! It’s a Steve Irwin Musical. He began his career as a voiceover artist and presenter on English-language radio and TV in Hong Kong and voiced multiple characters in the animated film Thru The Moebius Strip (GDC Entertainment), the first digital animation produced in China.
